Ayurveda is the ‘science of life’ &

the art of harmonizing mind and body

Ayurveda originated in India over 5,ooo years ago and is the oldest medical system still practiced today.

This system was created by the sages of the past. They were able to see and understand the building blocks –Gunas, of creation and could identify their manifestation in each individual.

Based on that deep knowledge, they created a system that encompass the balance of life in each person. By recognizing those building blocks they were able to see how each person has a specific make up –Prakriti, and how each person’s path to health has to be based on their Prakriti and their tendency towards imbalance – Dosha.

It’s aim is to achieve optimal health and wellbeing by living according to one’s own unique constitution, adopting the lifestyle and diet most suitable to living to one’s full potential.

If you think that you can benefit from an Ayurvedic consultation, please contact Meni to arrange to meet up and create your tailored nutrition and lifestyle plan to help you restore balance in your life.

Who is it for?

Everyone can benefit from Ayurveda’s health and wellbeing teaching.

Ayurveda sees each person as a unique phenomena. By understanding each individual’s unique constitution Ayurveda suggest the appropriate changes that will lead towards health as well as the food and lifestyle choices that will promote optimal health once balance has been restored.

How does it work?

While we go through life, our body and mind are constantly bombarded with stress. This stress, combined with incorrect diet and weakened digestive fire-Agni, leads to a build up of toxins-Ama. Imbalance and disorder appear when the channels of the body are obstructed by toxins.

By restoring the mind-body connection and balance, strengthening the digestive power and removing toxins, disorders are removed and health is restored.

Ayurveda can assist with with a wide range of disorders, and following an Ayurvedic consultation, you will have a personal, tailored nutrition and lifestyle plan to help you restore balance in your life.

Ayurveda Consultation

What should I expect from an Ayurvedic consultation?

Consultation is key to establish one’s imbalance and to devise a plan to restore balance and health.  During our consultation I will be asking you about your past and present medical history, your current main disorders as well as family history. As well as medical information, we will be looking at your sleep patterns, your eating habits and your overall energy levels. All these factors are put together to create a holistic picture of your health. Ayurveda aims to restore balance to all aspects of life and doesn’t see a disorder as an independent phenomena but rather, as a manifestation of a deeper imbalance. As such, the aim of a consultation is to find the roots of the disorder so that a plan can be created to remove those roots and restore health.  Based on our consultation, I will advise you on changes to your diet and lifestyle. Changes that will remove the cause of the disorder and will put you on the path towards health. You will be given meal plan recommendations, lists of food to avoid or consume and lifestyle recommendation to pursue or avoid.

As well as diet and lifestyle recommendations, herbs, oils, and minerals, are prescribed to support the body’s path to balance. These herbs are sourced from a trusted laboratory in Sri Lanka with high standards of quality control which  guarantee their quality, purity and potency.

Being a yoga therapist, sessions may include, if appropriate, physical exercises, asanas, breathing and relaxation techniques.

What kind of disorders can Ayurveda help with?
