What does naturopathy mean?

Naturopathy simply means nature cure. It is a way of healing that works with, rather than against, your body. Naturopathy goes beyond simply diet. It considers hydration, food, purposeful supplementation and naturopathic techniques. Naturopathy combines old wisdom with modern day living and works on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.

Let’s use the famous goldfish bowl analogy to explain the difference between treating someone in a naturopathic way and using allopathic medicine (known as Western medicine).

If you had a goldfish and you woke up one morning to find its fin was flopping and it looked a bit pale, you would take the fish to the allopathic vet. There, they would take it out of the water, look at it, give it an injection, maybe cut off a bit of the fin, put it back in the water and send you on your way with some antibiotics and painkillers. However, if you took the fish to a naturopathic vet, the fish would still be examined, but the vet would also look at the water in which the fish was swimming, as well as the food the fish was eating, and ask about the position of the bowl at home. Naturopathy goes deep. It looks beyond the symptom to the environment, and discovers why that symptom is being expressed and what elements of the environment need to change.

Naturopathic Healing – This is environmentally based and focused on allowing the body to express symptoms. The symptom is viewed as simply an expression, and the real work is to look at why that symptom is occurring, including what has changed in the environment. Treatment looks at making lifestyle changes the patient can control, which often also have a positive impact on other existing symptoms and complaints.

Is it time to get to the root cause of your dis-ease? Naturopathy is about healing the body, not putting a band-aid over symptoms with suppressing medicine or drugs.

Who can it help?

I have a wide range of clients, with issues ranging from digestive problems, fertility difficulties, anxiety, depression, autoimmune diseases, aches and pains, and many other chronic diseases. I also offer general life and nutrition advice.

What happens in a consultation?

During our session together, I will look at all of your symptoms from head to toe, followed by your full case history from pre-conception to the present day, considering both physical and emotional experiences.

Our sessions will empower you with the knowledge you need to embark on your own healing journey. They will inspire and motivate you to stay on track. I am not a healer. We all have the ability to heal contained inside of us. My role is to help you to understand the body in a different way, taking everything back to the cellular level. I am a wellness teacher. I am here to teach you how to heal, but you are the one who has to do all the hard work – it is up to you to put the plan into action!

The sessions simplify everything down and explore everything you really need to create alchemy in your cells:

  • Alive, pure water
  • Fresh, unpolluted air
  • Bright and radiant sunshine
  • Nutrient rich foods
  • Movement inside and outside
  • Love, hope, compassion and a sense of purpose

Our sessions explain how you can get all of these, and change the environment of your cells, through your physical, mental and spiritual actions.

How much does it cost?

The first session lasts between 90 – 120 minutes and costs £65. Follow-up sessions are between 40 – 60 minutes and cost £40. At the end of each session, I will email you your personal treatment plan, ready for you to get to work.

People often ask me how many sessions they will need and how long it will take to heal. There is no clear answer to this, as everyone is different. If you have been suffering from your symptoms most of your life, then healing is not going to happen overnight. Remember, naturopathy is about healing the body, not putting a band-aid over symptoms with supressing medicine or drugs. During our first session together, I will give you advice about your future treatment and together we will plan sessions related to your individual circumstances. This process is based on mutual respect and understanding and will focus on what is best for you, both in terms of time and financial commitment. I also understand that things can change, so nothing will ever be set in stone. You will always remain firmly in control of your own journey!
